Meet Us @ CeBIT 2016
,When: 15-17 March 2016 Where: Hannover Exhibition Grounds–Hall 6, Booth A34 What is it? The annual CeBIT Exhibition in Hannover is a leading international event in the digital industry with a diverse combination of exhibitions, conferences, keynotes, corporate events and lounges. Big Data is one of ten topics in 2016, featuring major providers of Big Data products and services. This field will be relevant for many visitors interested in digital transformation. Research & Innovation is another large area at CeBIT this year: Hall 6 showcases both research in the IT sector and visionary developments, presented by research institutes and high tech companies.
Why are we there?
DW is a partner in the News-Stream project, which will be exhibiting at the booth of the Federal Ministry for Education and Research in the Research & Innovation area (Hall 6, A34). Other partners in the project are Fraunhofer IAIS, Neofonie and dpa. Using a replica of an editor's workstation the team behind News-Stream will explain how News-Stream tools for journalists work. Apart from hands-on demonstrations they provide insight in the idea behind News-Stream. Journalists are pilots in an increasingly complex information jungle: they need to filter information from a variety of news sources, evaluate and then process them for different media channels. At CeBIT News-Stream will present first results and application examples. The new tools to support journalistic workflows are based on Big Data technologies. They analyse heterogeneous message streams in real time. For journalists, PR-agencies and press offices this facilitates research, topic and media monitoring and the creation of news articles.
DW's News-Stream team Mirko Lorenz, Benedikt Metzen und Birgit Gray will be attending the booth on 15^th^, 16^th^ and 17^th^ March. We are happy to answer your questions, show first demos and talk about Big Data tools for journalism. At the booth you can also meet our project colleagues from Fraunhofer IAIS, Neofonie and dpa–also on Monday 14^th^ and Friday 18^th^ of March.
