You Stitch It: From Video to Panorama View
,You Stitch It is a browser‑based verification tool that lets you create panoramas from videos and photos. It also allows you to inspect individual frames, magnify details – and makes analyzing a specific location a lot easier.
At DW Innovation, we constantly ask ourselves: what is missing in the world of digital research and verification? What could make journalists' work easier? What could empower our colleagues with better methods and tools to navigate the overwhelming flow of information and disinformation?
After launching SPOT, our AI-powered geolocator, we're excited to introduce our latest free tool: You Stitch It.
The Challenges of Video Verification
Video verification is complex. Videos can be edited, the audio altered or manipulated, making it difficult to assess their authenticity. At the same time, videos also contain lots of valuable information, such as sound and camera movements.
To verify a video, journalists often analyse it frame-by-frame. Identifying the exact location in the video is crucial to confirm when and where an event occurred – and if it happened at all.

Useful clues from videos or photos include street signs, shops, cars and license plates, ads, logos, public transport, architecture, antennas, clothing, vegetation, and a lot more. This is where You Stitch It comes in.
How does it work?
You Stitch It is a browser-based tool for creating panoramas from videos and photos. The interface has three main elements:
- Media Library – stores your uploaded visuals and selected frames.
- Canvas – creates your panorama.
- Inspector – lets you preview videos and analyse specific frames.
Start by uploading a video that shows the surroundings of a place to the Media Library. Then, choose the video from said library and play it in the Inspector. Mute the audio, and adjust the playback speed – or view it frame-by-frame. Now, select the frames you want: They will appear in both the Media Library and the Canvas.
In the Canvas, you can automatically stitch the selected frames into a single panorama. Not satisfied with the results? You can also manually arrange the frames and create a panorama that way. Finally, you can download it.
This process also works with multiple videos or images from the same location.
In-Depth Frame Analyses
To closely examine a specific frame, add it to the Inspector. Hover over the image to activate the magnifier – and switch to full-screen mode to look at the details.
Need an even deeper analysis? Download all selected frames as a ZIP file – ideal for reverse image search and forensic analyses.
You Stitch It works best in Chrome or Firefox and supports common image formats and video files.
