Meet Us @ News Xchange

When: 15-16 November 2017 Where: Amsterdam, The Netherlands What is it? The organisers label News Xchange as "the news industry's most provocative and most insightful experience." It brings together news executives, journalists, presenters, bloggers and start-up entrepreneurs from around the world with experts from other fields such as scientists, artists and thought leaders.

A main aim of the two-day event is to share and discuss ideas and the status quo of the news industry. Furthermore, trends and developments are shared in order to shape and prepare for the future of the news business.

News Xchange happens annually and is organised and supported by the European Broadcasting Union (EBU). This year's host is the Dutch public service broadcaster NOS (Nederlandse Omroep Stichting).

The full programme of the conference can be found here.

Why are we there?
We are participating in News Xchange to:

  • find out more about the state-of-play in the news business;
  • showcase our platform for collaborative verification Truly.Media;
  • discuss potential cooperation opportunities in the context of our research activities (especially relating to current and future projects);
  • do a lot of networking.

A number of Deutsche Welle staff is going to be present at the event, among them Guido Baumhauer, DW's Director of Distribution, Marketing & Technology. Guido will lead an interview with Sisonke Msiman in the Q&A session "Statues & Flags: The Role of the Media in Polarised Societies", at 5 pm on Wednesday.

DW Innovation will be represented by our Jochen Spangenberg. If you want to meet up with him, drop him a line (e.g. via Twitter or by mail), or just catch him for a chat anytime during the event.
