Meet Us @ the STOA Annual Lecture: Media In The Age Of Artificial Intelligence

When: November 21st Where: Brussels, Belgium, European Parliament What is it? The STOA Annual Lecture is an event organised by the European Parliament Panel for Scientific and Technological Option Assessment–STOA for short. STOA's core mission is "to understand the impact of new and emerging technologies and how to best support technological innovation".

This year's annual lecture hosted at the European Parliament in Brussels takes a closer look at "Media in the Age of Artificial Intelligence". Featuring speakers and panelists from Google, Facebook, the MIT Media Lab, Elsevier, and the Univerity of Sheffield, the event "will investigate the challenges associated with the design and application of AI algorithms in the media domain, presenting an opportunity to learn more about these questions and to participate in a debate with key experts in the subject."

You can check out the full programme of the conference here.

Why are we there?

In a short presentation labeled "Algorithms in Action", Yannis Kliafas (CEO of Athens Technology Center) and Wilfried Runde (the head of our team) will give an introduction to the jointly developed platform for collaborative verification: Truly Media.

In view of the occasion, the emphasis of the presentation will be on Truly Media's integrated verification features like Truthnest, reverse image search or Google maps/Google street view that support newsrooms to efficiently detect misinformation distributed on social media platforms. You'll find more on the current status of Truly Media here.

The event's official hashtag is #MediaInAi, and we'll be live-tweeting via @dw_innovation. If you like to meet up with Wilfried Runde, feel free to get in touch (Twitter, email) or just catch him for a chat anytime during the event.
