Meet Us @ EBU Media Summit 2014

The road to 2024: trend-spotting our world, our industry and our audience

When: 28 May 2014
Where: InterContinental, Vienna, Austria

What is it?\

Hosted by Austrian Broadcaster ORF and organised by Eurovison and Euroradio (both brands operated by the European Broadcasting Union) the annual „Media Summit" promises to „focus on trends we need to look at today to drive media strategies for the next 10 year" which of course makes it an attractive destination for anyone interested in innovation and the future of public service broadcasters in Europe and beyond. Raising the bar even higher the Media Summit claims to enable an „how-to for the what-if" including both „dreams" and „specific plans". This is of course no easy task but at least the diverse range of speakers from the various media related industries–including Sir Martin Sorrell of WPP, Madhav Chinnappa from Google and ‚media pontificator' Jeff Jarvis–should guarantee interesting and inspiring thoughts and talks.

On top of that EBU will present plans for phase II of its „Vision2020" project (which is a report on EBU's analysis and recommendations for a „shifting public service media landscape") in a closed session for EBU members only on the previous day. @dw_innovation will attend both events and provide updates via our Twitter channel.

Why are we there?

Well, see above: we want to participate in the discussion on „Vision2020", look at latest trends and what they mean for our projects and innovation transfer. Last but not least we want to listen to Sir Martin Sorrell telling us „Quite simply, what is happening in the world".
