Meet Us @ IBC 2016

When: 11–12 September 2016 Where: Amsterdam RAI, Amsterdam, Netherlands What is it? The IBC is a key platform to meet with companies and people active in the international electronic media and entertainment industry. The IBC Exhibition takes place from 9–13 September 2016 in Amsterdam with the IBC Conference running from 8–12 September. According to the organisers, in 2015, the event attracted more than 55,000 attendees from 170 countries around the world, exhibiting more than 1,600 technology suppliers.

The exhibition covers three main themes: creation, management and delivery. In 2016 the event is going to provide a new "IP Interoperability Zone" where visitors can explore networked media technologies and see how they relate to each other. IBC entails more additional "Feature Areas". One of them is the IBC Future Zone, addressing future technology and research.

Why are we there?

We are a partner in the SAM Project, which exhibits for the second time in the IBC Future Zone. IBC also gives us the opportunity to discover the current status of multiscreen broadcasting and network with related players in the context of SAM project results. SAM is about content finding the user's second screen through SAM's syndication approach as well as dynamic, usage-related communities. Existing videos from media providers can be enhanced by creating 2nd Screen services quickly and easily. This year, the SAM platform and related demos are more advanced. We will be showing different 2nd screen service examples produced for SAM's evaluation programme in the educational and learning sector, using factual videos from Deutsche Welle.

The IBC Future Zone shows future-facing projects and prototypes from leading R&D labs and universities. Other exhibits cover, for example, Live Broadcast Virtual Reality and 2D/3D production workflows. Other exhibitors include BBC R&D, NHK, Jaunt VR and Cisco.

Birgit Gray will be attending IBC 2016 on 11 and 12 September. Follow IBC on Twitter via #IBCShow and/or #IBC2016 and catch-up with news from DW Innovation on @dw_innovation. You can also contact us via Twitter.
