Meet Us @ IBC 2019

When? September 13-17

Where? Amsterdam, Netherlands

What is it? The IBC (International Broadcasting Convention) is an international trade show and conference catering to broadcasters, content creators and distributors, media hardware manufacturers, professional associations, and many other stakeholders in the media industry.

Why are we there?

Because it's one of those conventions you can't afford to miss. And because our Peggy van der Kreeft has been invited as a speaker. She'll join the

EBU Open Source Meetup (Hall 10, Stand F.20)
on Saturday, September 14th (16:00h-17:00h)

to discuss two open source language tools/frameworks Deutsche Welle has been involved in conceiving and putting together: SUMMA and GoURMET.

SUMMA integrates text, video-on-demand and stream-based media processing services (including speech recognition and machine translation) with deep language understanding capabilities (including named entity relation extraction and semantic parsing) for open source applications and media monitoring use cases at the BBC and DW.

GoURMET is developing SUMMA-compatible MT models for low-resourced languages (and domains), including Amharic, Bulgarian, Gujarati, and Turkish.

We're always looking for new project partners and beta testers in the field of HLT (human language technology)–so don't hesitate to get in touch with Peggy at IBC via Email or Twitter.
