Meet Us @ PBI2015

When: 10 - 11 September 2015 Where: Munich, Germany What is it? The (media) world is becoming ever more complex, with blurring lines between content producers, distribution platforms and hidden commercial or political agendas.

This calls more than ever for unbiased and independent sources of information and indispensable providers of context. A role more crucial than ever demanded of public broadcasting services. Exchange and sharing of new methods and tools globally is therefore key for PSBs in order to overcome this almost Gibsonesque situation.
Keeping PSBs fit for the future, trustworthy and relevant for all ages and target groups is hence the underlying goal of the yearly Public Broadcasters International Conference, bringing together representatives of more than 80 PSB's from all continents. This year everyone will gather in Munich, courtesy of ARD/BR, under the umbrella of "Public Broadcasters International" to discuss "how best to deal with challenges unique to public service broadcasting".

Why are we there?

Given this unique setting and the global reach of "Public Broadcasters International" this conference is a "natural choice" for Deutsche Welle as Germany's International Public Broadcaster in order to exchange views and experiences on hot topics in the current media domain. Sessions during the event will range from "Innovating Content Distribution and Reception" to "New ways of storytelling" featuring speakers and panelists like EU Commissioner Guenter Oettinger, Cory Haik from the Washington Post, Juliane Leopold from Buzzfeed and of course several Managing Directors from PBS around the world. Besides interesting discussions and networking opportunities galore @dw_innovation is also going to Munich in order to take the stage at the very beginning of conference day 2: Wilfried Runde will give an impulse speech pointing out trends and pressing issues opening the "Journalism in the Digital World" track.

Stay tuned for highlights and snapshots from the conference via our Twitter channel, follow the official hashtag (#PBI15) or get directly in touch with Wilfried Runde).
