Meet Us @ Scoopcamp 2014

New Storytelling

When: 04 September 2014
Where: Kehrwieder Theater, Hamburg, Germany

What is it?

Organized by the media network next Media Hamburg and German news agency dpa, scoopcamp 2014 is the self-proclaimed promoter for digital change in German media. The two day event (in its 6th edition this year) draws hundreds of journalists and media people from all over Europe and further afield to Hamburg and consists of two parts.
The conference day itself will be dominated by talks in the morning (among them Burt Herman of Storify, Ken Schwencke of the New York Times and Jigar Mehta, Media Innovation Strategist). The afternoon will see various workshops covering a wide range of areas from journalistic entrepreneurship to robot journalism.
The day will end with an awards ceremony and a panel discussion debating how innovation can find its way into newsrooms.

Why are we there

To start with, a DW team, consisting of team captain Cosmin Cabluea, Hannes Rohde and Milan Burgmann, will participate in the Hackathon on 3 September. Their project's working title is "The Mental News Map". Let's see if the DW team can be as successful as last year, when we walked away with the top prize...

Furthermore DW's Innovation Projects team has partnered with the organizers once again and will play an active role in one of Germany's most innovative online media events.
DW Innovation's Birgit Gray will give an introductory talk for the workshop "Moving Image and Second Screen". She will also host the respective workshop session with a focus on factual programming, related to DW's participation in the SAM project.

All in all, a packed event with interesting topics and great people–something we are looking very much forward to. If you want to be part of it and meet us there, you can still obtain tickets here. Of course, we will also report about Scoopcamp 2014 itself–so make sure you follow us and the event (Hashtag: #scoopcamp) on Twitter.
